Flu season is here, and we want to ensure our VUMC faculty and staff are safe and healthy all season long. This year marks the tenth annual Flulapalooza event and we want you to come celebrate with us on Sept. 28! Here are the top three things you need know about Flulapalooza.
- Where and when is Flulapalooza this year?
Flulapalooza will be held between Light Hall and the Veterans Affair Medical Hospital (VA Hospital) on Sept. 28 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Look for the large, white tent complete with balloons, signs, and friendly faces to help you get where you need to go! You’ll enter the event through Light Hall, North Lobby. Also, be sure to wear short sleeves and bring your VUMC ID badge!
To receive a flu vaccine at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital, Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital, and Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital, stay tuned for more information about their festive flu events, or you may reach out to your respective Occupational Health resource at your location.
- Where can I park if I’m an offsite and/or remote Vanderbilt employee?
Parking will be available in the 25th Avenue Garage for offsite employees or those who work from home. Use the 25th Avenue or 24th Avenue entrances to the garage. You do not need a Vanderbilt parking sticker on this day to attend the event.
- What if I can’t attend Flulapalooza this year?
If you can’t join us for our 10th anniversary Flulapalooza event, you can receive your flu shot from the Occupational Health Clinic (OHC) in a variety of ways! Visit OHC’s website for details on all these available options:
- OHC Peer Vaccination Program, where designated staff can vaccinate their coworkers.
- OHC weekly visits to One Hundred Oaks (each Thursday from 8-11:30 a.m. in VPEC Suite 21100).
- “OHC Comes to You” departmental on-site events. You can also request an event.
If you are unable to get vaccinated through OHC’s flu program, you can also get vaccinated anywhere and then submit your flu vaccine documentation to OHC.
We can’t wait to see you at Flulapalooza on Sept. 28 starting at 6 a.m.! For more information about the flu or Flulapalooza, visit OHC’s Employee Influenza Program website.
