Stephanie Jian, OD, assistant professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and program director of the Pediatric Optometry Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has been selected as a recipient of the inaugural Berkeley Optometry and Vision Science “40 under 40” award.
“Your dedication, innovation and unwavering commitment to excellence has propelled your success and inspired those around you. Your accomplishments serve as an inspiration to current students and fellow alums alike,” read a letter from the dean’s office at the University of California, Berkeley, informing Jian of the award.
Jian, who received her Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley in 2016 and was an optometry resident in pediatrics and primary care there from 2016-2017, accepted the award earlier this month at an award ceremony at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in New Orleans.
“I am honored that the school recognized my work as a pediatric optometrist and as an educator, and I am grateful to my mentors and colleagues at the School of Optometry,” she said.
