American College of Cardiology lauds VUMC’s care for heart attack patients

The award program “recognizes hospitals participating in the registry who have demonstrated sustained, top-level performance in quality of care and adherence to guideline recommendations.”

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized Vanderbilt University Medical Center with its 2024 Platinum Performance Achievement Award on its Chest Pain/Myocardial Infarction (MI) registry.

According to the ACC, the award program “recognizes hospitals participating in the registry who have demonstrated sustained, top-level performance in quality of care and adherence to guideline recommendations. Through full participation in the registry, hospitals engage in a robust quality improvement process, using data to drive improvements and positively impact patient outcomes for heart attack patients.”

VUMC was the only hospital in Middle Tennessee to receive the platinum distinction in 2024.

“This important distinction recognizes the excellent care provided by our cardiology service line, sets us apart from our peers in the region, and shows why the people of Middle Tennessee trust VUMC for their health care needs,” said Jared O’Leary, MD, assistant professor of Medicine and medical director for Quality for Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute.
