VUMC Marketing & Engagement’s work in several areas was recognized by the eHealthcare Leadership Awards in November. The department won five awards in four categories.
This is the leading awards program recognizing digital health care initiatives — excellence in websites; digital communications including social media; and business initiatives across a wide range of health care organizations. The peer-selected awards were presented Nov. 10 at the Health Care Internet Conference in Austin, Texas. The awards draw about 1,000 entries each year.
Additionally, Chief Marketing Officer Stuart Dill was a featured speaker at the HCIC conference. Cynthia Manley, director of Digital Content and Engagement, served as a judge for the Healthcare Internet Hall of Fame, whose 2024 inductees were announced at the same time.
Marketing & Engagement took these honors:

- Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt: Increasing Engagement by over 200% by Leaning into the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Brand

The award-winning email was part of a series of targeted emails developed together with third-party content partner Casual Astronaut.
Best Email Series by a Hospital with 400+ Beds: Silver Award
- VUMC: Improving Patient Engagement and Outcomes with Personalized Digital Campaigns https://www.vanderbilthealth.com/program/myhealth-bundles
The winning email series, with the MyMaternity Health bundle as the example, was based on research showing that when patients feel connected to their clinical team, they become more engaged in their care, leading to improved outcomes. The Business Engagement Strategies team identified key moments in the patient care journey. They emailed tailored content to patients at those times, to help reduce patients’ confusion and stress.
