Twelve minutes after midnight on Jan. 1, Siora Ray became the first baby of 2025 to be born in the Labor and Delivery Unit on the Main Campus of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The baby’s parents, Stannika Brown and Wesley Ray of Nashville, were ecstatic. Siora has an older brother, Simeek Ray, age 2.

“My experience at Vanderbilt has been great,” said Brown, 23. “Everyone took the time to listen to me. They were very caring … They made me feel very special and they made me feel safe during my delivery.”
