The 27th Annual Vanderbilt Neurology Stroke and Neuroscience Symposium will be held April 17 as a hybrid event, in person at the Hilton Garden Inn Nashville Vanderbilt Hotel and online.
Eliza Miller, MD, MS, chief of the Division of Women’s Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh, will present the keynote address, “Stroke in Women: A Life Course Approach.” Vanderbilt faculty will present talks about technological advances in stroke care and rehabilitation.
With stroke care evolving rapidly, and local and international neurology leaders looking to efficiently communicate changes in guidelines and the standard of practice, the event aims to improve stroke care in Middle Tennessee and beyond through continuing medical education.
Speakers will provide updates on a broad range of topics related to acute stroke care, risk factor management and prevention strategies, and rehabilitation. Discussions will emphasize new guidelines and clinical trial results while identifying areas of expected growth in the field in the coming years.
Learning objectives for the symposium include:
- State the key priorities for primary stroke prevention based on new guidelines.
- Identify the key new clinical trial results and specific changes to clinical practice based on the results.
- Understand stroke risk related to pregnancy and appropriate stroke prevention and stroke treatment strategies in this specialized setting.
- Improve management and prevention strategies for stroke care in special settings (in the ICU, in the setting of migraine, etc.).
