Launching March 31, the Vanderbilt Health Hub, a brand-new intranet serving everyone in the health system, will help employees stay informed, be more productive, and remain connected to important resources.
With the launch of the Hub, employees will see:
- More user-friendly navigation – similar services and resources are linked together to make it easier to find what you are looking for
- Enhanced search – employees no longer need to bookmark URLs or perform Google searches to find important information; search is integrated into the Hub
- Simplified architecture – site organization is designed with YOU as the employee in mind
- News and events on homepage – quickly see upcoming events and relevant news
- Integrated people finder tools – search for anyone in the health system, directly from the homepage
- Consistent look, feel and layouts – regardless of where you are on the Hub, sites maintain consistency, making for a better, more unified user experience
- Popular links and resources on homepage – global navigation and homepage links make it easy to get to the most accessed information across Vanderbilt Health, such as Workday and cafeteria menus
In addition, the Hub, which is built using SharePoint technology, features stronger security measures, better protecting Vanderbilt Health and our employees, as well as more robust governance, meaning the intranet will be positioned for future growth and enhancements and that decisions on changes are made with input from key stakeholders across the organization.
On launch day, the Hub will be easy to find for employees:
- Available as the default home page with Chrome and Edge browsers (employees will not be permitted to change this default setting to help maintain the Hub’s visibility)
- Linked from a Hub icon on desktops
- Visible within Microsoft apps, such as SharePoint and Teams (including the SharePoint mobile app)
- Accessible via a bookmarked URL: https://vumc365.sharepoint.com/sites/TheHub/ (not live until March 31)
The launch of the Hub represents more than a year’s worth of work from teams all over the organization, including VUMC IT, Marketing & Engagement, News & Communications, HR and many others.
Throughout the rest of the calendar year, this cross-functional team will work with stakeholders at Vanderbilt Health to continue to migrate content from www.vumc.org to the Hub. Coming soon to the intranet in the next couple of months will be Workplace Violence, Leadership Assembly, Parking and Transportation, the Enterprise Program Management Office, and many more. In the meantime, these sites on vumc.org are easily accessible via the navigation within the Hub’s home page.
Ultimately, the Hub will serve as the destination point for all sorts of information employees need to work and thrive at Vanderbilt Health.
