Vanderbilt University Medical Center is enhancing physical security measures at its One Hundred Oaks campus beginning Thursday, March 27, at 9 a.m. This change is part of an ongoing effort to enhance employee and visitor safety.

The new security protocols will apply to all staff, patients and visitors entering the facility. These measures are designed to create a more secure environment while maintaining efficient access to health care services.

Key changes include:

  • All individuals entering One Hundred Oaks will pass through designated secure entry points.
  • VUMC employees will be required to display their ID badges to gain entrance.
  • Anyone found with prohibited items during screening will be asked to remove such items before being permitted entry.

The current VUMC policy prohibiting firearms at all locations remains in effect.

“With nearly 450,000 patients accessing our clinics at One Hundred Oaks this year, we are thrilled to be implementing the physical security measures that have proven successful at many of our other facilities. We are thankful for the countless team members who have worked to increase safety for our patients, staff and providers,” said Rory Langefeld, vice president of Adult Ambulatory Operations at VUMC.

One Hundred Oaks joins several other VUMC facilities that have already implemented enhanced physical security systems: Medical Arts Building, Medical Center East, Medical Center North, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Preston Research Building, The Vanderbilt Clinic, Vanderbilt Eye Institute, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital and Vanderbilt University Hospital.

The security enhancement at One Hundred Oaks represents the next phase in VUMC’s ongoing physical security plan. Similar measures will be implemented at additional facilities in the future.
