Animated special, ‘Music City Hockey in Smashville,’ to air April 1; Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is presenting sponsor

The Nashville Predators’ game on April 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets will be televised on WTVF News Channel 5 at 6 p.m. — with a twist.

The game, for which Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is a presenting sponsor, will be presented as an animated game with the title “Music City Hockey in Smashville.”

The real game is being played in Columbus, Ohio.

The game on TV will mirror the game in its details, but will be shown as animation around the theme of the Predators’ mascot Gnash throwing a party at a rink in Nashville, with prominent local landmarks visible — including Monroe Carell.

The telecast will also have a special segment on the partnership between the Preds and the hospital. It will also include a special edition of Champ of the Game; the feature during each home Preds game where a patient from Monroe Carell is highlighted on the big screen in the arena.
