Eric Wallace, MD, a specialist in musculoskeletal radiology from Louisiana State University, has been appointed assistant professor of Clinical Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and vice chair of Community Radiology.

Each year the Division of Community Radiology performs more than 160,000 radiologic exams at Vanderbilt Bedford County Hospital, Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital, Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital and at multiple Vanderbilt Health imaging clinics throughout the region.

Wallace is the first vice chair appointed to the Division of Community Radiology, which has grown rapidly since it was established in 2023, said Daniel Brown, MD, the Carol D. and Henry P. Pendergrass Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences and chair of the department.

“Dr. Wallace is the right person to lead this group,” Brown said. “He is solution-oriented, motivated and brings positivity in his approach to problem-solving. It is great to have him join our team.”

Wallace was recruited from the LSU School of Medicine and Health Sciences Center, where he earned his MD and completed his radiology residency. Before joining the LSU faculty in 2018, he received fellowship training in musculoskeletal radiology at Alabama Sports Medicine Imaging in Birmingham, Alabama.

“I’m really happy and excited to be joining Vanderbilt in both a clinical and leadership role.” Wallace said. “I grew up in a small town in southeast Louisiana, so being able to provide care to patients from places similar to where I grew up is really rewarding for me.

“I look forward to helping expand the accessibility of Vanderbilt-level care to patients in those communities,” he said.

Vanderbilt Community Radiology offers state-of-the-art imaging services, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, breast MRI and ultrasound, 3D and digital mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided biopsy services, and minimally invasive procedures. The Division of Community Radiology provides subspecialty reads across all diagnostic modalities.
