Environmental Services team at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital holds ‘EVS Olympics’

The setup for the various "Olympic" games

When Environmental Services Week was observed last month at VUMC, one of the activities stood out.

The Environmental Services (EVS) team that serves Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital staged its first EVS Olympics.

As Tonya Davis Mosley, the EVS assistant manager for that area, put it: “Our team members competed in a spirited obstacle course race designed around everyday EVS tasks.”

The course included:

  • Donning PPE
  • Bed-making
  • Toilet paper toss
  • Vacuum challenge
  • Cart race
  • Doffing PPE at the finish line

Winners of the various events included Kentrell Copeland, Martez Chandler, Veronica Jenkins, Dariia Leavitt and Christina Hamilton — although Mosley was quick to note, “Everyone was a winner!”

“It was a fun, team-building experience that showcased the skill, speed, and dedication of our EVS techs in a creative and memorable way,” Mosley said. “Some of the Nutrition Services team came to the gym to root on our participates and also popped popcorn, prepared pizzas and dessert for the remaining days of EVS week.”

The three referees for the event are members of the leadership team: (L-R): Allison Raber, John Bell and Tonya Davis Mosley.
Some of the spectators/participants enjoying the games, (L-R): Veronica Jenkins , Christina Hamilton, Deundra Tillman and Ted Thompson.
