Annet Kirabo named “Top Scholar” in hypertension

Annet Kirabo, DVM, MSc, PhD, associate professor of Medicine in the Division of Genetics and Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt Health, has been ranked as a 2025 Top Scholar by the global academic analytics platform ScholarGPS.

The distinction places her among the top 0.05% of scholars worldwide in her specialty, hypertension, “in recognition of (her) exceptional productivity, noteworthy impact, and quality of scholarly work” during the preceding five years.

Kirabo was recognized particularly for her work elucidating immune mechanisms that drive hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Her research also has helped advance understanding of inflammatory pathways underlying cardiometabolic disorders and has informed new therapeutic approaches.

Kirabo, who also is associate professor Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, directs the Vanderbilt Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS) Center of Excellence. She was named a Chancellor Faculty Fellow in 2024 and is a Fellow of the American Heart Association.
