Evon Batey Lee, Ph.D., has been named director of training for the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). She succeeds Terri Urbano, Ph.D., MPH, R.N., professor of Clinical Pediatrics, who retired in December.
Lee continues as associate professor of Pediatrics (clinical-educator), Psychology and Psychiatry.
“Evon was chosen for her career-long commitment to mentoring pre-professionals and continuing professionals in the wide array of fields involved in treating and caring for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families,” said Elisabeth Dykens, Ph.D., Vanderbilt Kennedy director and UCEDD co-director.
Lee has held a variety of roles within the Kennedy Center and Vanderbilt Pediatrics since she completed a doctorate in developmental and clinical psychology in at Vanderbilt in 1980.
Currently, she is coordinator of Psychological Assessment in the VKC Participant Recruitment and Assessment Core. She also is the core faculty member in psychology for the Vanderbilt Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Training Program and serves on its Grant Administrative and Educational Materials Committees.
“Evon’s involvement in the LEND Training Program is an additional asset she brings to her new role as UCEDD training director,” said Elise McMillan, J.D., VKC UCEDD co-director.
“We seek always to integrate training, research and clinical services across Vanderbilt Kennedy Center programs, and Evon has the breadth of experience to help us accomplish this.”
The mission of the VKC UCEDD is to provide innovative leadership in education, research and service to promote the independence, self-determination, productivity, integration and inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities and to support their families.
The VKC UCEDD is federally funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Administration on Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
