C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs, CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System and senior associate dean for Clinical Affairs, was recently recognized as the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) Department of Surgery Alumnus of the Year.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Pinson trained in general surgery at OHSU. He also completed a fellowship training program in cardiovascular physiology as an American Heart Association Postdoctoral Research Fellow while at OHSU.
After completing additional fellowships, one in gastrointestinal surgery at the Lahey Clinic and one in transplantation at Harvard University/Deaconess Hospital, Pinson was recruited back to OHSU in 1988 to start the first liver transplant program in the Pacific Northwest.
Pinson was recruited to Vanderbilt in 1990 to start VUMC’s program in Liver Transplan-tation.
While at OHSU to receive the Department of Surgery Alumnus of the Year award, Pinson also delivered the Mackenzie Society Visiting Professor Grand Rounds.
