Pets of VUMC 2018 — Collection #4: Dogs! Cats! Beds! Sofas! vol. 2

A comfortable pet is a loved pet. Lots of love here.

Jennifer Gaddis, Lead Account Reimbursement Specialist. “Samson has TONS of personality and loves to play hide and seek with me.”

This is the fourth collection of photographs submitted by VUMC employees to the 2018 “VUMC Voice” Pet Photo Contest.

The first collection, called “Duos,” was published  in April.

The second collection, called “Dogs and their people,” was published in May.

The third collection, vol. 1 of “Dogs! Cats! Beds! Sofas!” was published in early June.

Almost 600 (!) photographs were submitted for the contest. (Remember — the top prize we offer in the contest is a photo of your pet shared in “VUMC Voice.”) And while we won’t be able to use all, or even most, of the pictures we received, we hope to showcase a good sample of the best of the beasts.

If you didn’t send in an entry this year, and your pet is peeved at you about it, please reassure him or her that there will be a “VUMC Voice” Pet Photo Contest next year, but explain that the deadline for entries for this year has passed, and no more pictures will be accepted. We hope your pet understands.

And the pets just keep on comin’. Watch for the next installment of “VUMC Voice” Pets of VUMC 2018 — coming soon.

Sujay Kharade, Anesthesiology. Chinoo.
Shelia Trotter, Vanderbilt Heart. Manny the goldendoodle.
Sandra Purcell, Surgery. Sparkles.
Rosemary Cope, Work/Life Connections-EAP. “Memsy is a brindle Boston terrier. Her given name was Memphis Belle, but Memsy fits her personality.”
Ashley Houser, Children’s Inpatient Pharmacy. “Chandler was picked up as a stray in the streets of Detroit, and has journeyed all the way to Tennessee with his ‘friends.’”
Caree McAfee, Epidemiology. “Link is a 13-year-old rescue Weimaraner who only has eyes for me.”
Catherine Downey, Neuro ICU. Willow.
Christine Ashley, Emergency Medicine. “Ginger is an 8-year-old Lab/American Bulldog mix who was pulled from a Georgia shelter as a puppy and adopted by us when she was age 2. She’s the sweetest, most gentle dog we’ve ever had.”

Diane Brown, Research, Billing and Compliance. “Princess is 2 ½ years old. Her favorite treat is baby carrots.”
Doyle Phillips, Information Technology. Maggie.
Millie Nannie, Revenue Cycle Patient Accounting. “Bukowski (Bucky for short) came to our family after his original owner passed away unexpectedly, and the family did not want to keep him. He has brought a lot of unconditional love and joy to our lives.”
Gary Clark, Enterprise Analytics. “Buddrick is a 9-month-old Maine Coon.”
Beth Prusaczyk, Medicine, and Casey Babb, Pediatrics. “Gilmour is a 7-year-old Lab-Plott hound mix. This picture is from his fourth birthday when he got doggie ice cream. He’s terrified of storms and desperately wants to play with his cat brothers but unfortunately they want no part of it.”
Heather Grimaudo, Neurosurgery. “Hudson is a Dalmatian mix my husband and I adopted last year from the Nashville Humane Association. Fun Fact: When Hudson is wet, all of his Dalmatian spots come out.”
Jo Harris Gammon, Health IT. “Sam is a one year old rescue from Nashville Humane. He is mostly yellow Lab, but has some hound thrown in for good measure, we think.”
Brittiany Adams, Internal Medicine. “I adopted Panda from Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control in August 2017. His favorite movie is ‘Jurassic Park.’ He stared, mesmerized, at the TV throughout the entire movie. He also likes Kitty Yums treats, belly scratches and the music of The Beach Boys, which calms him when he goes to the vet.”
Johanna Shadoin, Psychiatry. Pepper.
Kim Blittle, Hemophilia Clinic. “Bailey is a 6-year-old adopted Maltese mix.”
Kirk Hunckler, office of the Chief Operating Officer. “Lady is a 2-year-old Lab/pit mix that I adopted when she was 8 months old. She gets very upset when she’s not allowed on the bed.”
Leigh Thompson, Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology. Jacques.
Libby Salberg, Contracts Management. “Hudson River is a poodle-bichon mix and is 13 years old.”
Jill McAfee, Sponsored Programs. “Bridget is highly intelligent, and is always on hand to ‘help’ in any repairs around our house. Bridget never meets a stranger, and fills our home with love.”
Kim P. Tonello, Vascular Surgery. “Maizi Mochi-chan is a blue British shorthair — the kind of cat that was portrayed as the Cheshire cat in ‘Alice in Wonderland.'”
Mia Caldwell, Pediatric Respiratory Care. “Mic loves snuggling, popcorn and frosted flakes. He also loves to travel. So far he has been to: Georgia, Ohio, Florida, South Carolina and Indiana.”
Mia Sharp, Neonatal and Pediatric Ground Transport Team. Lucy.
