Holiday Project tops last year’s total
The Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt raised more than $80,000 during Holiday Project 2010, and the group has started looking for artists for 2011.
The amount raised was a 14 percent increase over the previous year.
Buyers of the items ranged from businesses to individuals, some as far away as Colorado.
Holiday Project 2010 included artwork from 18 artists from all over Middle Tennessee.
Each year, Friends collects holiday artwork from patients, former patients and their friends and siblings. The artwork is used on holiday cards and gift items sold to raise money to support patients and families at Children's Hospital.
The items sold include holiday cards, wrapping supplies, Christie Cookie tins and a new product from Bongo Java.
The Friends will accept artwork submissions for 2011 through Monday, Jan. 31.
Drawing sheets and information about the art contest can be found at www.childrenshospital.vanderbilt.org/holidayproject.
