Trauma Association taps VUMC’s Morris for vice president post
The AAST is the oldest and largest scientific organization established to further the study and practice of traumatic surgery and the care of critically ill surgical patients.
Morris will head a task force to set a research agenda for the new field of Acute Care Surgery.
“There are huge policy decisions to be made, not only creating the research agenda, but also the educational agenda,” Morris said. “We must determine how we train and educate people to fill the role of acute care surgeon. We’ve got some very large questions that will need to be addressed in the next several years and I look forward to participating in that.”
Morris founded the Trauma Center at Vanderbilt in 1984 and served as division chief from 1986-2011.
