Stroke Center lauded for patient care achievements
Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been recognized for achievement in using evidence-based guidelines to provide the best possible care to patients through the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines program.
The Vanderbilt Stroke Center received a Gold Performance Achievement Award for attaining at least 85 percent compliance with Get With The Guidelines measures for 24 consecutive months.
Vanderbilt is the only hospital in Nashville to achieve this distinction.
“Get with the Guidelines is about hospitals that are able to provide optimum care 85 percent of the time or better, and Vanderbilt does exactly that,” said Earl Coleman Jr., MPH, J.D., of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
Get With The Guidelines is a hospital-based quality-improvement program designed to ensure that hospitals consistently care for cardiac and stroke patients following the most up-to-date guidelines and recommendations. The program addresses coronary artery disease, heart failure and stroke. Currently more than 1,400 hospitals participate in the program.
