Clayton receives award for ethical excellence
Ellen Wright Clayton, M.D., J.D.
The American Academy of Pediatrics' Section for Bioethics gives the award once a year to recognize an individual or group for significantly impacting public discussion of ethical issues in pediatric medicine.
Clayton is professor of Pediatrics and Law at Vanderbilt University, and a general pediatrician.
She has been active in debates on ethical and policy issues surrounding research and the clinical care of children for many years.
She has advised the National Institutes of Health and other federal groups on an array of topics ranging from children's health to the ethical conduct of research involving human subjects.
At Vanderbilt, she teaches bioethics and law. She also is the Rosalind E. Franklin professor of Genetics and Health Policy at Vanderbilt.
