Walk on the wild side with friends, family and co-workers at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere on Saturday, Oct. 13, for the American Diabetes Association's “Step Out to Fight Diabetes” walk.

Corporate Recruitment Chairman, Steven Gabbe, M.D., dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, will lead Middle Tennessee's health-minded citizens to promote fun, fitness, and the ADA's lifesaving research and education programs.

The goal of Step Out to Fight Diabetes is to change the face of diabetes in our country — by raising funds to help find a cure and to bring a greater awareness to this devastating disease. In 2006, walkers from the Vanderbilt Eskind Diabetes Clinic raised $7,980 in support of this goal.

Registration for the two-mile walk begins at 8:30 a.m., with the walk commencing at 9:30 a.m. To learn more about the event, or to register to walk with the Vanderbilt Diabetes Center team, go to http://www.diabetes.org/stepout or call 1-888-DIABETES.
