Faculty Focus: Heidi Schaefer, M.D.
Heidi M. Schaefer, M.D., joined the faculty of Vanderbilt University Medical Center recently as an assistant professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology.
Previously, Schaefer was associate director of the renal fellowship program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
There she also served as a transplant nephrologist, clinical instructor of medicine and chief renal fellow.
Schaefer obtained her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Her research interests include cardiovascular risk factor management and oxidative stress in kidney transplant recipients.
