Vanderbilt University Medical Center will mark the beginning of the Community Giving Campaign with a kick-off celebration on Wednesday, Aug. 15 in Light Hall.
The annual giving campaign is held to raise money and awareness for a variety of charities in Tennessee, such as Community Shares, United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, and Community Health Charities of Tennessee.
Under the leadership of Al Guyet, director of Police and Security, the entire university will participate in the campaign in an effort to reach the goal of $800,000. The theme for the 2001 initiative is “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”
As in past years, the kick-off event will provide training for campaign coordinators, while at the same time offering entertainment, such as a skit and door prizes.
