Open Enrollment set for Oct. 1-19

Vanderbilt employees have from Oct. 1 until Oct. 19 to make changes to their health, dental and other benefits package during Open Enrollment.

The biggest change for employees next year is that Vanderbilt will not offer Blue Cross $400 and HMO Blue Plus. Individuals currently enrolled in these programs will have to choose another plan from Blue Cross Preferred, United Healthcare, or Vanderbilt Preferred for medical coverage.

Also, Delta Dental will not be offered next year. Instead, a new plan, Protective ProThree, has been added. Denticare is still available.

A Benefits Fair is being held Sept. 26 and 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in The Vanderbilt Clinic, rooms 2701-2704.

During the fair, informational sessions will be offered in the Sarratt Student Center, rooms 189 and 363. Sessions at Sarratt will include explanations of all open enrollment programs, as well as workshops related to retirement and estate planning.

An Open Enrollment packet is being mailed to all eligible employees’ homes during the week of Sept. 17. The packet contains information on the different plans, as well as enrollment forms to make changes to benefits for Jan. 1, 2002. Employees are asked to bring this packet to the Benefits Fair.

During Open Enrollment, forums have been scheduled for the health and dental insurance representatives to answer questions. These forums will be held: Oct. 1, 7:30 a.m., 189 Sarratt; Oct. 2, 11 p.m., 412 Light Hall; Oct 3, noon, 411 Light Hall; and Oct. 4, 7:30 a.m., Rotunda-Wyatt Center. Also on Tuesdays and Thursdays (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.) through Oct. 16, representatives will be available in the Courtyard Cafeteria.

Departmental meetings can also be scheduled for benefits representatives and representatives from the health and dental companies to answer questions. Call Tammi Boyd at 322-8303 to schedule meetings. On Oct. 18 and 19, a drop-off tent will be in front of the Peabody Administration Building.
