New Physician Spotlight: Niels Johnsen

Niels Johnsen, MD, has joined the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Department of Urology after completing his residency at VUMC. He began seeing patients Aug. 1.

Families recently gathered for the annual Arrington Vineyards Harvest Party. The event, now in its eighth year, again benefited Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. New this year, proceeds supported neonatology training and research. The daylong Harvest Party, sponsored by Delta Dental of Tennessee and Pinnacle Bank, featured food, drinks and a concert by country music star and Arrington Vineyards co-owner Kix Brooks. The National League for Nursing (NLN) has named Vanderbilt University School of Nursing an NLN Center of Excellence (COE) in recognition of its high standards of educational excellence and visionary leadership.

Last weekend, people who are uninsured received free treatments for outpatient upper extremity conditions at Vanderbilt Bone & Joint in Franklin.

Event provided free hand surgeries for uninsured patients

Hand surgeons and other Vanderbilt Health staff offered surgeries to people who are uninsured and need surgical treatment for outpatient upper extremity conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and ganglion cysts.
