Shiayin Yang, MD, an otolaryngologist who specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery, has joined VUMC after completing a fellowship at the University of Michigan.

Jeffrey Upperman, MD, a national leader in pediatric trauma and disaster preparedness, has joined Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt as surgeon-in-chief and chair of the Department of Pediatric Surgery. He started Nov. 1.

Cathy Eng, MD, a national and international leader in gastrointestinal medical oncology, was recruited to VUMC from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Colin Barker, MD, a national leader in percutaneous heart valve therapies, has joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center as the new director of Interventional Cardiology. He began seeing patients July 2.

Niels Johnsen, MD, has joined the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Department of Urology after completing his residency at VUMC. He began seeing patients Aug. 1.
