Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Department of Plastic Surgery has a well-earned reputation of being among the nation’s best for reconstructive plastic surgery. With the opening of the new Vanderbilt Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Clinic in Brentwood, the group will have a more visible presence when it comes to cosmetic procedures as well.

Slovis honored by College of Emergency Physicians

Corey Slovis, MD, professor and chair of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt, has been awarded the 2018 National Outstanding Contribution to Education Award by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

New support group formed for patients with Ménière’s disease

Beginning Nov. 6, Vanderbilt’s Department of Otolaryngology will host a monthly support group for patients living with Ménière’s disease, a disorder effecting the inner ear that is characterized by episodes of symptoms such as vertigo (dizziness), tinnitus (a ringing inside the ear) and hearing loss.

Combination therapy improves small-cell lung cancer survival

Patients with stage IV small-cell lung cancer lived longer when given the immunotherapy atezolizumab with chemotherapy, setting the stage for what could become the first new treatment approved in decades for this particularly aggressive form of lung cancer.

Antipsychotics ineffective for treating ICU delirium: study
