Edwards, Schaffner honored by major infectious diseases organizations

Two highly regarded Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) infectious disease clinicians were recognized with service awards from prominent organizations during IDWeek in San Diego, California, Oct. 4-8.

Children’s book author Christina Geist recently visited patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and read her latest book, “Buddy’s Bedtime Battery.” She was joined by her husband, television personality and journalist Willie Geist, who anchors MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and NBC’s “Sunday Today with Willie Geist.”

Clinical informatics master’s program accepting applications

Celebration honors 11 university endowed chair holders

Eleven Vanderbilt University faculty members named to endowed chairs were honored Oct. 23 during a festive celebration at the Student Life Center.

Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center patients treated with new FDA-approved CAR T therapy

Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) has been selected as one of the few authorized treatment centers in the United States approved to administer the first FDA- approved chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR T) therapy for treatment of adult patients with a specific type of lymphoma. VICC is the only cancer center in a seven-state region of the Southeast authorized to deliver the new immunotherapy.
