A Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) student recently received international recognition when his poster presentation at a major infectious diseases conference was voted the best from among 600 presenters and 1,500 attendees.

Family members, friends and faculty gathered in Light Hall on July 29 to support the new Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) class during the school’s annual Convocation and White Coat Ceremony.

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine recently awarded its inaugural Faculty Fellowship to Advance Medical Education (FAME).

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) held a Memorial Service for Recent Victims of Violence in America and the World on Wednesday to give faculty, staff and students an opportunity to reflect and share their thoughts and feelings about recent national events that have resulted in violent and senseless deaths.

Neil Osheroff, Ph.D., has been named director of the Academy for Excellence in Education. He succeeds Lillian Nanney, Ph.D., who served as director since the Academy’s inception in 2007.

Dr. Andre Churchwell has been named to the newly created role of chief diversity officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In this role, he will continue to oversee the Office for Diversity Affairs in the School of Medicine while also engaging with other leaders across VUMC to create new opportunities for increasing diversity and inclusion.

During the past two weeks, researchers at Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) have brought in a number of new research grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that together achieve $137 million in new funding. The funding is a trans-institutional accomplishment of the Schools of Engineering and Medicine and the College of Arts and Science.
