Levi Watkins Jr., medical pioneer and champion of racial equality, dies

Levi Watkins Jr., a renowned cardiac surgeon, champion of racial equality and diversity, and the first African American to be admitted to and graduate from Vanderbilt’s School of Medicine, died Saturday from complications after suffering a stroke.

Shade Tree Trot gearing up to raise funds for student-run clinic

This year’s 5K Shade Tree Trot, the single largest source of funding for the Shade Tree Clinic, is set for Saturday, April 18, at 8 a.m. at the Vanderbilt football stadium.
