Updated COVID-19 vaccine available for VUMC employees and patients

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved an updated mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine provides better protection against current strains of COVID-19 that are circulating as we transition into the fall/winter virus season.

Above and beyond to fight the pandemic: Blood Bank director Jennifer Andrews, husband, Chris, and daughter Ella each were volunteers in VUMC vaccine research.

“I needed to help the situation in any way possible. I felt really lucky to be included in the clinical trial,” Andrews said.

The COVID Mass Vaccination Site Team faced a daunting task – put 200,000 shots in arms in six months. The team never wavered.

The accomplishment earned the group the Elevate Team Award.
