Advertising agency named to enhance regional marketing

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has chosen Birmingham, Ala.-based Lewis Advertising to aid the institution in its plan to enhance its regional marketing and advertising.

The agency's task will be to help devise strategies to market the Vanderbilt Medical Group to the Middle Tennessee region, said Dr. John S. Sergent, professor of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer of Vanderbilt Medical Group.

"We were very impressed with what we saw in their presentation. They have shown that they have an extensive background in health care advertising and we look forward to working with them.

"We believe Lewis Advertising will help us raise the level of awareness in our region of the superior quality of our physicians and our medical group," Sergent said.

Inaugurated late last year, the Vanderbilt Medical Group is the state's largest multi-specialty group practice located at one health care institution, and is one of the largest in the Southeast. Enhancing the Vanderbilt Medical Group's profile through a focused, cohesive marketing and advertising campaign will help bring the group's broad base of specialist physicians and wide array of services to more patients in the region, Sergent said.

Lewis Advertising, which maintains an office in Nashville, was chosen following a thorough search process that attracted proposals from more than three dozen qualified agencies.
