Advisory board taps Pat Levitt

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Director Pat Levitt, Ph.D., has been appointed to the National Advisory Mental Health Council by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt.

The council advises the HHS secretary, the assistant secretary for health, the director of the National Institutes of Health and the director of the National Insitute of Mental Health on all policies and activities relating to the conduct and support of mental health research, research training and other programs of the NIMH.

Levitt will serve a four-year term.

The council has 18 members and five non-voting ex-officio members.

Levitt joined Vanderbilt in 2002 as professor of Pharmacology and director of the Kennedy Center, a national center for research on development and developmental disabilities and a national Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities Research, Education and Service.
