Wesleyan University will honor George Allen, M.D., Ph.D., with a Distinguished Alumnus Award for his career accomplishments in medicine.

At Wesleyan's commencement on May 24, Allen will be honored along with four other noted alumni from a variety of fields, including one of the founders of the Blue Man Group.

Allen, who graduated from the Middletown, Conn., university in 1963, also will deliver a speech titled “A Life in Science” at a related seminar, a Wesleyan spokeswoman said.

Allen is the William F. Meacham professor and chair of Neurological Surgery at Vanderbilt, as well as co-director of the Vanderbilt Pituitary Center. His clinical interests are pituitary tumors and radiosurgery of brain tumors and vascular malformations.
