This year's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture takes on an international flair as Lesego Motsumi, the Minister of Health for Botswana, will discuss “The Public Health System in Botswana: Successes and Challenges” on Jan. 19, at noon in 208 Light Hall.

The first half of Motsumi's career was spent working as a teacher in several schools in Botswana and rising to senior education officer for secondary education.

She joined active politics in 1999 and has served as assistant minister of Labour and Home Affairs, minister of Works and Transport and most recently, minister of Health.

The event is sponsored by the Vanderbilt Schools of Nursing and Medicine and is free and open to the public.
