Megan Parkerson, a senior at Father Ryan High School and this year's Brain Bee winner, learns some pipetting techniques while visiting with Denise Malone in the Neurogenomics Core lab this week. Vanderbilt’s annual series of Brain Awareness events continues throughout March. On March 10 Linda Spear, Ph.D. will present “Adolescence, Alcohol, and the Brain” at 4 p.m. in 241 MRL Building, Kennedy Center. Robert Zatorre, Ph.D. will present “Music and the Brain” at 7 p.m. on March 13 in Turner Recital Hall, Blair School of Music.
The goal of Brain Awareness is to teach the general public about how the brain works and the importance of brain research to understanding, treating, and ultimately curing brain-related diseases. (photo by Dana Johnson)
