Breast Center lands imaging accreditation
The Vanderbilt Breast Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The three-year accreditation is for mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
The award is based on evaluations conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who assessed the qualifications of the Vanderbilt Breast Center personnel and the adequacy of the facility equipment.
“We are delighted to receive this important designation from the ACR, which recognizes our continued strength in breast imaging,” said John Huff, M.D., chief of the Section of Breast Imaging and imaging director of the Vanderbilt Breast Center.
“With the Breast Center's upcoming move to Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks in the spring, we will build on these strengths with the addition of dedicated breast MRI, becoming the first comprehensive breast center in Middle Tennessee to include on site MR mammography.”
The Vanderbilt Breast Center is Nashville's first and most comprehensive multidisciplinary breast care center providing cancer screening, evaluation and treatment of benign breast conditions, the latest in compassionate cancer care and support and access to innovative clinical trials, many of which are unavailable outside an academic medical center.
The Vanderbilt Breast Center is a part of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and is the only breast center in the area affiliated with a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
