VUMC Infection Control Coordinator Vicki Brinsko has been appointed for an indefinite term to the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The committee makes recommendations for patient isolation and other guidelines to prevent transmission of infectious disease, including headline diseases such as SARS. The CDC exerts enormous influence over infection control practices, issuing guideline updates every few years that are voluntarily adopted by the vast majority of U.S. health care providers.
