Centennial Lecture to examine future of health reform

U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper will discuss “What the Future Looks Like in Health Care Reform” as the third installment in the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing Centennial Lecture Series.

The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. in the School of Nursing Room 155.

A leading voice in Washington on fiscal policy, health policy and government accountability, Cooper serves on the Armed Services Committee, the Budget Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. He is chairman of the Armed Services Committee Roles and Missions Panel.

Cooper has been an attorney and investment banker and was just elected to his fourth term serving the 5th Congressional District of Tennessee.

Cooper, who represented Tennessee's 4th Congressional District from 1983-95, also teaches health policy at the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management.

The lecture is followed by a reception and both are free of charge. Free parking is available at the Wesley Garage at the intersection of Scarritt Place and 21st Avenue North.
