Parents, children, families and friends are invited to take part in Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony for the new Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

The event begins at 4 p.m. on May 15, and will be held at the construction site for the new hospital, at lot 42, between Capers and Pierce avenues on the side that fronts the Page Campbell Heart Institute.

The ceremony will begin at approximately 4:20, with refreshments to follow.

Upon completion, the new 565,000-square-foot hospital will consist of nine floors and 206 inpatient beds as well as additional space for outpatient services.
