Children’s Hospital opens Jackson clinic

The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is now serving patients who live in West Tennessee, providing special clinic hours for many pediatric specialties.

The new clinic in Jackson allows pediatric specialists from Children's Hospital to follow up on patients who have been treated or undergone surgery in Nashville, so families don't have to make the two-hour drive to Nashville for each visit.

The new clinic is located at the Ayer's Children's Medical Center Pediatric Clinic at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Currently, Children's Hospital is sending five pediatric physicians to Jackson:

• Donna Daily, M.D., will see patients in the area of developmental pediatrics once a month.

• Arnold Strauss, M.D., will see cardiology patients twice a month.

• John C. Pope IV, M.D., will see urology patients twice a month.

• Ramon Cuevas, M.D., will see neurology patients once a month.

• Brian Riedel, M.D., will see gastroenterology patients once a month.

Service dates and times will be expanded in the future, as well as other specialties, including the addition of endocrinology.

In the next few months, John Thomas, M.D., will work with Pope to see urology patients and Kent Williams, M.D., will see gastroenterology patients with Riedel.

Other physicians from Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis will also help staff the clinic.
