“We are very excited about our new relationship with Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and the opportunity to provide high quality neonatal intensive care services to the babies and families in those communities,” said Judy Aschner, M.D., director of the Division of Neonatology.

The Jackson NICU provides care for more than 670 babies each year.

“I think this is a wonderful opportunity for the Department of Pediatrics and for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt to both impact the health of children and their mothers in western Tennessee, and to expand the regional footprint of Children's Hospital,” said Mumtaz Darbar, administrator for the Department of Pediatrics.

“This also complements the already strong services we have in providing pediatric critical care and outpatient specialty care in Jackson.”

In Jackson, the Department of Pediatrics, along with Pediatric Urology and Neurology, provide outpatient subspecialty services in the areas of Cardiology, Developmental Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Nephrology, Neurology and Urology at the Ayers Children's Medical Center Pediatric Clinic.
