Churchwell lauded by national health publication

Kevin Churchwell, M.D., chief executive officer of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, has been named one of the top 25 minority executives in health care.

The list was published in the April 7 issue of Modern Healthcare. Churchwell was selected from more than 100 nominations nationwide.

“It is quite an honor,” Churchwell said. “The list includes people who have dedicated their lives to serving public health in the military, in governmental posts and as CEOs and presidents of health care facilities. I am proud to be included on such a list.”

Recipients must meet criteria, including: leadership both inside and outside the organization; ability to effect change in health care; a demonstrated willingness to share expertise with others; and serving as a mentor to other minority health care executives.

Churchwell and the other recipients will be honored at a dinner June 18 at the Sears Tower in Chicago.
