Community Giving Campaign breaks previous records

Vanderbilt faculty and staff donated a record-breaking $841,094 to the Community Giving’s “Commitment to Caring” Campaign in 2003.

The final tally surpasses the $810,000 goal set by Campaign organizers, and tops the $808, 649 raised by Vanderbilt employees in 2002. The funds will benefit the hundreds of agencies supported by The United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, Community Shares, and Community Health Charities of Tennessee.

Linda Norman, D.S.N., senior associate dean for Academics in the School of Nursing, and this year’s campaign chair, said she’s thrilled Vanderbilt employees were able to dig deeper this year and make the Campaign such a success. “It was an honor to chair the 2003 Campaign. The generosity of each employee here at Vanderbilt proves that we are ‘Committed to Caring’,” said Norman.
