Dance for dollars raises record amount

The 2007 Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon benefiting the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt raised $163,915 — $51,000 more than last year. This was the most successful Dance Marathon to date.

More than 550 Vanderbilt students pledged to raise at least $250 and stayed up all night Feb. 23, dancing, meeting the families of Children's Hospital patients and playing games. The annual event, in its fifth year, was held at the Student Recreation Center on Vanderbilt's campus.

“We are so excited about the continued success of Vanderbilt's Dance Marathon,” said Mary Craig Parrish, CMN events coordinator. “To have 550 students and countless volunteers commit to a night to 'dance to give kids a chance' shows a lot about the character and passion of Vanderbilt's student body.”
