Day of events set to celebrate openings of MRB IV, Langford

The dedication of Medical Research Building IV and the Frank Stella sculpture and the grand reopening of L.C. Langford Auditorium will take place Tuesday, June 17.

From 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., in 208 Light Hall, there will be a series of 20-minute scientific presentations by 10 MRB IV faculty members, followed by a brief question/answer period.

Jeff Balser, M.D., Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for Research and interim dean of the School of Medicine, will open the afternoon scientific session.

Presenting the lectures will be John Penn, Ph.D., Greg Mundy, M.D., Ela Knapik, M.D., Maureen Gannon, Ph.D., Richard Peek Jr., M.D., Michael Aschner, Ph.D., Mark Magnuson, M.D., Scott Baldwin, M.D., Ned Porter, M.D., and Judy Aschner, M.D.

The MRB IV dedication will be at 4:30 p.m., followed by the unveiling of “adegan,” a sculpture by world-renowned artist Frank Stella at 5 p.m.

The reopening of Langford Auditorium will take the spotlight at 7 p.m. with a free, open-to-the-public concert featuring Mike Eldred and members of Take 6, winners of 10 Grammy Awards. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
