Deadline nearing for Community Giving Campaign

Vanderbilt's 2007 Community Giving Campaign, “Your Gift. Your Choice,” is gaining speed as the Nov. 2 deadline for participation draws near.

This year's goal is $875,000, and campaign partners are Community Health Charities of Tennessee, Community Shares, Nashville Alliance for Public Education and the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville.

Camilla Benbow, dean of Education and Human Development and this year's campaign chair, is asking all employees to help.

“We, as a group, have a chance to make a profound difference in our own neighborhoods by participating in this year's campaign,” said Benbow. “Every contribution, both large and small, will make a difference.

Participating in the campaign has never been easier. Community Giving captains have circulated individual, paper giving forms. Also, the online giving system has been enhanced. All donors need is their VUNet ID and password to fill out on the online form. All online donors will be entered into the drawings on Mondays for a chance to win a prize.

“If you have ever bought anything online, you'll be able to use the online giving form,” said Kathleen Corbitt, director of internal campaigns. “Most importantly, you'll find it only takes seconds to make your donation and put your money to work for those organizations which need it most.”

Donations can be made by payroll deduction, credit card, cash or check, or direct billing.
