The investigators used a lamprey eel spinal cord system (left) to study nerve cell communication. The drawing on the right shows a presynaptic nerve terminal with the hypothesized signaling events evoked by serotonin (5-HT). The researchers found that G beta-gamma (Gbg) regulates synaptic vesicle fusion.

VUMC’s division of Dermatology has scheduled its annual staff and faculty skin cancer screening for Wednesday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to noon., at the Dermatology clinic on the third floor of The Vanderbilt Clinic.

The event is an opportunity to get a free, full-body exam by a dermatologist – an exam which is recommended by the American Cancer Society for everybody over the age of 20. Screenings are offered by appointment only, and there are a limited number of slots.

To schedule an appointment, call 322-5085 and leave a message with your name and number. A Dermatology staff member will call back to schedule a screening appointment.
