The Office of Research (OOR) is now accepting applications for the 2007 Vanderbilt University Medical Center Discovery Grant program.

The grants will fund up to $50,000 per year for one or two years to support pre-R01-type research, for a total grant of $100,000. Discovery Grants are designed to stimulate the development of new research ideas and are not intended as bridge funding. Applicants must have expended all development funds before applying for a Discovery Grant.

Applications are due in the OOR by 5 p.m. on March 16, with grant funding to begin July 1. Information and forms may be obtained on the OOR Web site at http://www.vander-bilt.edu/oor/funding/discgrants.php. For more information, please contact Lynne Hutchison at 343-9075.

Applications will be evaluated on scientific merit and likelihood that a project, if further developed, will be competitive for individual research project funding (R01). OOR is requesting information about what federally funded award the applicant plans to pursue using data and results from his or her Discovery Grant.
