Edwards lands infectious disease award

Kathryn Edwards, M.D.

Kathryn Edwards, M.D., is the recipient of the Infectious Diseases Society of America's (IDSA) 2006 Mentor Award, announced during the group's 44th annual meeting Oct. 12-15 in Toronto.

The Mentor Award was created to recognize individuals who have served as exemplary mentors and is presented to an IDSA member or fellow who has been exceptional in guiding the professional growth of infectious disease professionals.

Recipients are chosen based on proven availability to provide counsel, assistance and encouragement; willingness to make serving as a mentor a priority; ability to assist in solving problems and overcoming obstacles impeding career development; and important role model characteristics, such as integrity and compassion.

Edwards is director of Pediatric Clinical Research.
