elevate: Answering the Tough Questions

Featured Image

Medical Center leadership answers the tough questions about what the elevate program is and what it means for the people who work at VUMC.

Question: Why isn't more free parking available for visitors to the HealthPlus fitness facility?

Answer: The University's Kensington Garage, atop which our fitness center is located, has long been designated for paid public parking. However, there are plenty of other parking alternatives nearby.

Behind Kensington Garage, in lot 29B, we've leased five designated parking spaces for visitors to HealthPlus. Parking decals are not required.

For those with a valid Medical Center decal, the shuttle lots are within a short distance of our building (these lots accept all VUMC decals).

For those with a valid University parking decal (as opposed to a VUMC decal), all zoned lots, including lot 29B and other nearby lots, are open for “cross parking” daily after 2:30 p.m.

Purple Route shuttle buses stop at Kensington Garage five minutes after departing Medical Center North. The return leg of this circular route takes longer.

Many take advantage of the nearby 2525 West End Garage. The first 30 minutes are free, and thereafter the cost is $1 per half hour.

We'll be glad to review parking options with you and provide advice to make your visits convenient. Call HealthPlus, 343-8943.

We also offer various types of fitness classes at numerous locations around campus. See our Web site for a schedule, or call 343-8943 and ask that one be mailed or faxed to you.
